About the Area

Khadar village (New Colony of Gajiawala) in Gajiawala, 8 kms from Dehradun city is a thickly forested and protected area. Mussoorie, hotspot for tourists is at a height of 7000 MSL. Situated just 30 kms from my residence, Mussoorie used to be a winter paradise for the British colonisers. In Mussoorie, temperature varies from -1 to 15 degrees C through out the year. Dehradun city also used to be a favourite garrison city of the British has many British trails. Famous for IMA (Indian Military Academy), Forest Research Institute and a number of schools that cater to the upper middle and rich class, Dehradun is an educational hub. Temperature in winter drops to 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in Khadar village in Dehradun and in summer it rises up to 30 degrees. A much preferred place for many Indians who wish to escape from sultry heat from nearby places like New Delhi and enjoy cooler days. Dehradun and around is also a bird paradise and many birders visit and stay here for research. Dehradun is connected by both by air (Jolly Grant airport is 35 kms from the city) and train. From Delhi an enriching 6 hours drive, there are many private/public buses that take you to Dehradun. WE ARE ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF DEHRADUN. A PLACE CALLED 'KHADAR' IN GAJIAWALA VILLAGE NEAR GARHI CANTT IS 6 KMS FROM THE MAIN CITY CENTRE.

The minute you see Murali and Seema's smile, you feel welcome and at home. They show kind and loving interest for everyone around them, during and even after the encounter. They're available to help you anytime. Dinner time in family are the best, talking with Seema while she cooks a colored and spicy meal, exchanging ideas with Murali, listening to him talking about meditation, or Seema about their infotainment project through India.
They are the best family to enter peacefully in this beautiful country!

I stayed with Murali and Seema for three weeks, and all I can say, is that this homestay left me speechless. Everything about it was beyond perfect, be it the facilities, the food or the overall mood in the household. If you're looking for a place that feels like home, come here! Because Seema and Murali, and also their son Tanmay will really make you feel like a part of their family.

I stayed with the family for 2 weeks at Kandiville East. The home is ideally located near the Western Express Highway with easy access to buses, trains, autos and cabs.

The home stay is exceptionally clean and well maintained, and the food was amongst the best i ate during my trip especially the brownies, cup cakes, dal dhokli .... I can just go on and on...If you are looking for a real home from home - this is the perfect place.

    Simply a perfect homestay experience!

During my 3 month journey through South-India I didn't find any place where I felt more welcome!
Murali, Seema and their two children are very friendly and extremely helpful. They helped me with everything, told me many nice stories about India and helped me planing my cycle tour.

The room is comfortable and the food ... oh the food was very very delicious! Thx Seema !

    The location:
You can reach Mumbais center within 1 1/2 hours by train. This is Ok and it is also a nice experience to drive with the train through Mumbai.
Only 2 km to the north is the entrance to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. The Kanheri Caves and the view from the mountains are great!

I couldn't have imagined it to turn out any better. A wonderful, perfect homestay experience! ..with a fully comfortable room, delicious food and loads of helpful assistance in terms of being a tourist in Mumbai or for travelling in India in general. If that wouldn't have been already more than enough, I really enjoyed the chance to exchange ideas, to learn about different aspects of indian culture.
Many thanks for the warm, welcoming way of making me feel at home!

As Mumbai is a HUGE city, guests who only visit for a short period of time should be aware, that it takes about 1 1/2 hours to travel to the main tourist part of Mumbai (i. e. South Mumbai). But where else could one experience one aspect of "real" Mumbai life better, than in travelling by local trains. As each part of this maximum-city has it's own character, I'm very glad to have gotten to know other parts as well and fully recommend it.
