Lhakhim Homestay means "House on the pass"- A refuge for life's great adventures tucked away from the usual, well-trodden trekking routes, Lhakhim Hoemstay in Lachen offers a humbling welcome immersed in sweeping views of the gnarled landscape strewn with formidable peaks. Perched on a hillock, Lhakhim Hoemstay gazes directly into the monumental, overlapping himalayan range along the Tibetan border. A stay at Lhakhim, is perhaps, the only way to appreciate the Himalayas-spending time within the ancient village of lachen, all the while absorbing the rhythms of the world's fiercest mountain range staring right back at you and, no doubt, the hardships and vagaries of a life in the mountains.
Short Brief of the Host
A former history teacher and house master at Takste International School (Sikkim), Dathup Lachenpais also an amateur footballer who has played for a number of local teams in the state. with a keen interest in Sikkimese culture, history, and identity—everything Dathup does is done with the aspiration that he can affect positive and lasting change in his community: He is the Co-Founder of social business, Thread: Lachen Carpets and has played an integral part over the past two years in bringing Project Denjong to life.
Dathup was educated in Gangtok (Sikkim) and in Kolkata (West Bengal), and holds a BA in Political Science from Calcutta University, and a post-grad in the same from Rabindra Bhararti University (Kolkata). Dathup speaks English, Bhutia, Lachenpa, Nepali, and Hindi.

Our House is located on the way to Lachen Monastery. In our locality we have few hotels, a school playground and a public parking.
Meals

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
