The Secretary to the Governor of the Indian Northern Province, named Mr Brae used to reside in Brae House, prior to India’s Independence.
Our place is a perfect vacation spot that lets you immerse in the beauty of nature and gives you a much needed break from city life.
Our humble vintage abode sits in the lap of mountains and is surrounded by Pine and Oak trees.
The mornings are beautiful where you get to witness the Naini lake, Cheena peak, Camel's back , and all the famous spots just from our home.
What adds more to the charm are the beautiful birds (our place is adjacent to the Kilbury Bird Sanctuary) of different species that keep you company while you soak in the magnificence of mother nature.
British engineered Bungalow, with king size rooms, having wooden lofts, wooden flooring, wood log ceilings.
In house help available to look after the Flora and Organic seasonal Vegetables.
Area prone to Leopards, Gorals, Flying Fox, Owls.

About the Area

British era Bungalow, located at one of the hill tops in Nainital. On a sunny day scenic views of Naine Lake , Cheena Peak, Camel's Back, Tiffin Top, St Joseph’s College , Sherwood College, can be clearly seen from our location. The place is peaceful, good location to practice yoga / meditate / write / farm / work from home, etc. (legitimate)

House Rules

Kindly provide copy of your identification papers like passport, or other government issued ID proof. (compulsory for both national and international guests)

Smoking is not permitted indoors. While smoking outside, extinguish the cigarette butt completely and dispose it off in the dustbin outside the household.

We do not serve alcohol in our house. Adult guests may carry their own alcoholic beverages and can consume sensibly on the property. Illegal drugs are NOT permitted.

Do not litter in your room or common areas. Acquaint yourself with the proper disposal methods.

Meals are chargeable, we do not provide you room service. Meals are served in a common dining space.

There is no broadband, Wi-Fi or television in the rooms. However the mobile 4G data and voice works absolutely well on a mobile phone.

Please close and lock all windows and doors when you leave the room.

Please respect the property and feel comfortable. Causing any damage to property will lead to eviction from the house.

After your bath, please hang towels outside on the railings or towel rack (not in your room/bathroom). They will dry quicker and will not smell of moisture.

While using household amenities like water and electricity, make sure you use them wisely not just for monetary constraints but also for environmental concerns. Don't leave taps running or appliances switched on when you don't need them.

Bonfire is chargeable and can be set up on request only in our designated open area. We may not be able to entertain a request for the same during monsoon rains or while snowing.

Please do not dump waste, papers or anything else which may cause the toilet or water drainage to clog.

We want you to feel cozy and comfortable, therefore, please ask us if you need extra blankets/quilt if you are cold.

Do not let your children wander unattended. You’ll be living in a leopard prone area , please be sure to look where you’re walking and consult us to know where you can stroll (especially during night).

We allow light music till 10 pm at night. Always try and maintain the noise level at a point where it doesn’t upset other guests, neighbourhood and us.

Do not bring any guests who you have not booked for, to the accommodation for stay.

Inform us beforehand if you intend to spend the night outside the accommodation as it might worry us.

Take instructions from us if you intend to wash your own laundry .

If travelling with pets, ensure they do not litter in the premises / neighbourhood. Ask us for pet rules.

Do not enter in any kind of unlawful activities, physical or verbal abuse in the neighbourhood while staying with us.

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

When do I pay?

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
