Casale: A rustic house typically found in a small hamlet or countryside.

The house's name derives from its location on Via del Casale in Valle San Giovanni, a small village of 350 people near Teramo (pop. 53k) the capital of one of Abruzzo's four provinces. The Adriatic Sea is about 17 miles away. Rome can be reached in two hours. 48 miles to the south is an airport in Pescara. Residents of "La Valle" refer to themselves as Vallaroli and are the nicest folks in the world!

Casale is a free standing house on a short alley off the main piazza. This provides a sense of serenity when desired while allowing ample contact with the locals. The panoramic view from the large patio is fantastico. La Valle has a church with daily masses, bar (Bar Novanta), grocery store (alimentari) owned by Paolo, fruit and vegetable store (fruttivendolo), post office (Ufficio Postale), and hardware store (ferramenta). Several restaurants are nearby, one within walking distance.

Casale was completed in 2004 and has modern amenities. One bedroom has a matrimonial bed and a second has two twin beds. The living room has an extremely comfortable couch that opens into a double bed. Linens, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, wood burning stove for heat and bathroom with an enclosed shower will make your stay a pleasant one. A ceiling fan cools things off in the summer. You will be impressed.

Parking is in the piazza a short distance away. Crime in the town is virtually nonexisitent. Village gossiping is plenty existent. There is a patio with an unobstructed view of Valle Soprana (no known relation to Tony Soprano!).

Casale is a great place to center your visit to Abruzzo while at the same time a perfect base to explore major tourist attractions. You will have the opportunity to take day trips to nearby beaches, fortress towns, and tourist sites.

The onsite manager is Paolo who speaks English and can answer all most of your questions.
