Masae san is a lovely host, the accommodation, Komaian, is only newly built and absolutely gorgeous.
Quiet and comfortable Komanian leaves you well treated and rejuvenated. Masae san is an excellent cook, we did not want to leave. Highly recommended!December 2023
Staying at Komaian house was a treat! Masae-san would come by in the morning to make breakfast. Then we'd go for a walk and she'd show me around the area and help me work on my Japanese. Then later in the day she'd come by and make dinner. The meals were always delicious and she accommodated my dietary requests. If I could give 6 stars I would. Masae-san was an exceptional host.

I had a great time at Masae’s. She was a very kind and considerate host who spent much of her time showing me around town and introducing me to new people. I am grateful for the moments I got to spend with her and her husband. The homestay itself is very spacious and cozy as well. Happy to have spent my time there.

Masae-san and her family are super nice and welcoming!!! The place is well kept, clean and very tranquil. Most amazingly, Masae cooks one of the best meal you can have in a japanese family!!!!! How lucky I was. I absolutely love my stay here and would love to come back!

I had a wonderful stay of three nights. The house which has been constructed using traditional Japanese building methods, is beautiful. Masae san is the perfect host. She prepares a sumptuous Japanese breakfast using local Tokushima ingredients. The location is perfect for exploring about four temples on the 88 temples pilgrimage but Masae san also guided me to a local Indigo dying atelier which was great fun. It takes about 25 minutes from the house to get to the centre of Tokushima and access is easy. The location is semi rural and you see traditional farming all around. Mostly I enjoyed talking to Masa san who loves to share her love for her hometown.

Everyone!!! You must stay here!!! The hosts are amazing and feels like you coming home. The house is a wonderful warming Japanese home. The hosts (I am not sure if I can use someones names on the site review) makes amazing breakfasts everyday and we even had the opportunity to meet the family. If you want to experience life in Japan "Staying here is a MUST". The location is perfect, close to train and bus stops --- "ON THE PILGRIMAGE TRAIL" --- Temple 15 and 16 are within easy walking distance. Literally, everything you could want and more. AMAZING !!!!!!

For me, Masae-san and her husband, Yoshi-san, were perfect hosts. I joined homestay.com because I am travelling around Japan and I thought the site would provide good opportunities to meet people and to improve my Japanese. Sadly, this has not always been the case, as many hosts provide just a room in their house, isolated from family activities. In those cases, I may as well have booked an hotel. This was not the case at Masae-san's place, where I felt very 'at home'. Her breakfasts are excellent and she took me on tours around her locale, helping me to understand more about Japan and to improve my Japanese. The tatami mat room (washitsu) was lovely and the house is very clean. I have no faults to report. An excellent 1-week stay!
