A very nice time in the outskirts of Kyoto. A good location and a lovely host who showed us the best places in and out of Kyoto.

Merci Maple. Et Monica !(son chien)Host reply

I stayed at Maple's house with my mother for five nights and it was a lovely homestay!! Maple is a very kind person and helped us a lot during our stay. She warmly welcomed us on our arrival day and gave us general guidance for traveling in Kyoto. Talking with her was a lot of fun as we have a common interest in health and nutrition.
The house and the room are nice and clean. The location is a bit far from the city center on top of a hill but therefore the area is quiet and calming. There is a bus stop and a supermarket nearby so that you have access to everything you need.
We really enjoyed our stay at Maple's house and will definitely come back whenever we are in Kyoto again!

My time with Rin was very pleasant, we had a lot of interesting conversations and she recommended me places to go to. Also, her home-made breakfast is very good!
The house and the room are very clean, however, it can be very cold during winter as the only heated rooms are your own and the living room/kitchen.
I was allowed to use the microwave, but it's important to note that any other kitchen item is not to be used at any time, unless you pay extra.
It may take a while to reach the center of Kyoto as her house is rather far to the west and the nearest train station can only be reached by bus (Also, the last bus already departs at around 10pm, so you can't stay downtown for too long.)
Overall, the homestay was very friendly and we had a lot of fun on new year's eve. Thank you!

I had a wonderful time at Maple's! The location is in a quiet, suburban neighbourhood close to the university, and if I had more time in my itinerary I definitely would have stayed longer to wander the local parks for momiji. Maple was extremely kind and accomodating, and made sure to keep in contact with me even prior to my stay so I had no trouble navigating. I enjoyed our conversations in the morning as we talked about our shared love of pickles! She made my breakfast with healthy soup and noodles, and homemade tsukemono. The upper room also had a lovely view of the city where the sunlight comes in. The bedroom was very cozy and warm, and I felt comfortable during my entire stay. I would love to come back to Kyoto again, just to stay with Maple! ありがとうございました
