we are a family of 4 living the dream in a rural home off a dirt road in Makarau, Kaukapakapa. our 2 story house has 4 bedrooms and a seperate guest room with ensuite toilet/shower. we also have a completly seperate converted 'shearing shed' that has 2 bedrooms and kitchen/bathroom facilities for complete isolation for a few days (although the possums like to tap dance on the roof at night.)
our home is a quiet piece of country, but has wonderful Orewa or Whangaparoa beaches only 20 min drive away. wake to the sounds of 'foghorn leghorn' our cockerel calling in the morning, enjoy the peace and tranquility of the day with no cars and wonderful little nooks to hide in in our 5 acre tree and shrub filled gardens. we have 4 donkeys a pig and a goat that love to be fussed. 3 cats that will sleep on anything available, oh, and 2 dogs who demand fuss. sorry, we have only limited internet.. but my sons, husband and I are friendly and welcoming and a good chat is better than typing isnt it?.

About the Area
we are rural and quiet. the dirt track road does not have a bus route. the nearest shopping centre is Silverdale which is about 20 mins drive away - and the beaches of whangaparoa and Orewa about another 5 mins further from there.
the gardens are secluded, and there are lots of wonderful areas to sit and relax. we have bees and our own honey and chooks so also have our own eggs. If you are looking for a place away from the hustle and bustle - we would be perfect

Great host, very friendly, great breakfast, good room with most facilities. The place is very rustic and you can share time with the animals. Dogs, cats, Alpacas. Would not hesitate to stay there again. If you are travelling on the West Coast towards or from Kaukapakapa it would be an ideal place to stay.
