About the Homestay
My colourful home has lots of character and is just outside Birmingham City centre — great transport links into the city and across the West Midlands. A charming Victorian terrace house in a quiet residential street and close to amenities. I enjoy welcoming new people into my home my goal is to make sure you have the most comfortable stay possible.
I have created a cosy, warm and welcoming room which accommodates up two people. Situated at the rear of the house it's very quiet and a lovely sun trap in the afternoon. You will sleep in a supremely comfortable bed (with mattress & pillow protectors) crisp bedlinen and feather duvet & pillows — please let me know if you need an alternative due to allergies.
The room's equipped with fluffy towels, an iron & hairdryer, a nice armchair to read a book, tea & coffee making facilities in the room and blackout curtains to ensure a good night’s sleep.
As the guest room is directly next door to the bathroom and over the other side of the house, it has a sense of privacy. With a built-in wardrobe space, and separate drawer unit there's plenty of space to hang your clothes and store all your belongings.
Guests have access to the dining room in the evening if they want to order in a takeaway or use the microwave to reheat food. A fridge is provided in your room.
Guests have access to the garden which is the only place you can smoke.
For those on longer stays, there is a washing machine (an extra cost) but no dryer. However, theres a launderette right round the corner.
- Internet Access
- Smoke alarm

About the Area
Located just outside the city centre, I've lived in this area for over ten years. It's a family neighbourhood which I've always felt very safe in.
There’s a great local park on the doorstep but a mile or so and you’ll find the lovely Warley Woods and Lightwoods park. I also live a 15 minute walk from the fantastic Edgbaston reservoir where you can enjoy peaceful walks or even water sports. There is a public swimming baths nearby and a gym 2 minutes from the house.
Locally, you’ll find many shops, takeaways and a very large supermarket (open until 10pm) just a few minutes walk away that will meet most of your requirements. A 15 minute walk to Bearwood in the other direction will lead you to more shops (Aldi, Argos, Co-op, Poundland, Superdrug etc.,) and cafes along with lots of charity shops for bargain hunters. You’ll find a good number of local pubs, 'The Midland' being a real ale bar and 'The Kings Head' being a restaurant and pub with a great beer garden.
A bit further away is nearby Harborne, which is a fashionable area with lovely bars and restaurants. A taxi back from Harborne is less than £6.
In Birmingham City centre you will find a full range of activities including fantastic bars and restaurants, museums, art galleries and libraries and of course great shopping.

I would highly recommend a Homestay with Jo in Birmingham. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel most welcome. Jo’s home is beautiful and is artistically and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was delicious and nice touches, like tea, coffee and water in the room add to the overall experience. The location is very handy for Birmingham City Centre and Jo was most helpful with directions and information about public transport both prior and during our stay. I would happily stay with Jo again - a great weekend!
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 199 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
