Just a note.....make sure it's the place for you....
This is a budget AirBnb's for Lewes.
Our place is creatively messy. We keep it as tidy and clean as a busy creative rustic family rural house can be.
My Children (10 and 17) live here. The hallways are sometimes cluttered. Toys and clothes sometimes always not tidied away. Not every surface is always spotless.
The main shared areas are kept basically cleaned, and a cleaner visits regularly.
The children can be chatty. Often just quietly getting on.
They have friends and their parents who come to visit, I run classes and groups here, and and I teach theatre here.
The place is sometimes active, and busy and other times extremely quiet for long periods. Most evenings are very quiet.

Your room, however, is tidy, clean and neat.

The garden is always left to re-wilding in spring, and allowed to become overgrown to encourage wildlife. In winter... it's scraggly. It has things (camping gear, chairs, cycles, plant pots, trampoline, children's toys, guinea pig run) in it.
It's not a pristine empty lawn.

Some find all this charming. But... Please be realistic.

Please direct any specific concerns direct to me, and I will do all I can to help you.

We look forward to hosting you.
Many thanks, Jonathan

About the Area

Our house is on the SW corner of Lewes, on the road down to Rodmell (Virginia Woolf's home for a while).
It therefore has both easy access to the countryside which is all around us, but also to the town, which is a 10 minute walk away. Anne of Cleeves house is 10 mins away, a huge park opposite, fields all around us, wonderful walks, Sussex Downs on the doorstep. There is a bus to Lewes every 2 hrs but lewes railway station is only 20 mins walk, or 7 mins cycle. From there are frequent trains to London (1 hr to Victoria), Brighton (15 mins, every 15 mins), Eastbourne, Seaford, Glyndebourne, and more. Buses also run from a bus stop 20 mins away into Brighton, or to many other locations.
The sea is a 15 min drive down the road, (or via train ride to Seaford). There are good (tho pebbly) swimming beaches at Ovingdean, Rottingdean, Seaford and all along the coast. Beachy Head is a 30 min drive.
Lewes is the county town of East Sussex (meaning it's the administrative centre in most regards)
A traditional market town and centre of communications, in 1264 it was the site of the Battle of Lewes. The town's landmarks include Lewes Castle, Lewes Priory, Bull House (the former home of Thomas Paine), Southover Grange and public gardens, and a 16th-century timber-framed Wealden hall house known as Anne of Cleves House. Other notable features of the area include the Glyndebourne festival, the Lewes Bonfire celebrations and the Lewes Pound.

Next to Anne of Cleves House in one of the dearest areas in the historic South of England's most beautiful estates. The Owner is an artist and it was very lively and interesting experience living there. The landscapes and long walks and closeness to Brighton busy areas was an incredible experience, Thank You so much Jonathan!

If you read carefully the description and agree with the atmosphere this will be a nice stay and good moments you’ll spend in this place like I did for 6 days !
Lewes is a quiet and lovely city I’ve never heard about before and I hope to come back some day ! And if I will, I’ll sure choose Jonathan’s house :)

Lovely host with various breakfast options and somewhat unkempt place. Okay for a short stay.
