My home is large enough to give you your own space. It is situated between Edinburgh and Glasgow giving you a cost effective option to explore all of central Scotland by train or car.

Relax and enjoy your home away from home in this spacious room with a king size bed, ensuite, and a desk with a view onto the meadow. My home is ideally situated for business or leisure trips around central Scotland and frequent trains into Edinburgh and Glasgow are only a few minutes away.
I stay on my own with my two dogs Wicki and Melvin, who are two ewok looking Affenpinschers.
I work from home most days so I am usually flexible with check in and check out times. However, there are times when I must attend conference calls from home when I cannot speak, but happy to work with you around these times.
The space
My home is a modern build and 3 years old. Your room is situated on the first floor. The room is quiet as it overlooks a field but there is some traffic mainly at peak commuting times.
The room will comfortably accommodate 2 people. It has an ensuite toilet with shower and sink. A welcome pack of teas, coffees, snacks and breakfast will be provided as well as a small kettle and small fridge.
For breakfast I have provided a small selection of cereal and porridge in the room, along with milk and a kettle.
I am blessed with excellent wifi speeds of around 19 mb/s and wireless printing is also available.

About the Area
My home is situated on the outskirts of a small quiet village. There is a small convenience store that is a 5 minute walk away. There is nothing else in the village! However, Airdrie is a few miles away with larger stores such as Tesco, Argos, etc.
Getting around
The house is just over a mile from Drumgelloch train station which provides direct links to Edinburgh and Glasgow. The station is a quick drive, £4 in a taxi or a 20 minute walk. Trains are around every 20 mins and it takes 40 minutes to Edinburgh and 30 minutes to Glasgow. Trains to Edinburgh are £18 peak return or £13 off peak return. Trains to Glasgow are £7 peak return or £5 off peak return.
The M8 motorway is just 10 minutes away providing direct links to Edinburgh, Glasgow and the M74. The M80 is 15 minutes away, and M73/M74 junction is 20 minutes away

Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

House Rules
Please respect my furbabies and ensure their safety at all times. They do show interest in guests, and I will do my best to keep them out of your way if you are not dog friendly. I have an enclosed garden that the dogs run around in, so it is very important that the gates are kept shut at all times as we live near a road. The dogs occasionally bark at passers by or when the doorbell goes.

My home may not be suitable for young children.
The bedroom is upstairs, so you will need to be able to climb the stairs.
Potential for noise - There is some noise from the road outside. We have a neighbourhood ice cream van who may play a tune or two occasionally.
Payment Method: Please note that I will require guests to pay 50% of the booking total to me in advance of the booking to hold your room (on top of the 15% deposit is paid to Homestay.com). I can accept PayPal or bank transfer.
Cancellation Policy: I ask that guests give us at least 7 days’ notice for any cancellation. Any cancellation later than this will not be refunded.

April hat uns sehr freundlich und herzlich bei uns aufgenommen. Sie hat uns geduldig alle Fragen beantwortet und Tipps für Ausflüge gegeben. Das Zimmer ist für zwei Personen angenehm groß und liegt in einer kleinen, ruhigen Ortschaft. Bis Edinburgh oder Glasgow ist es nicht weit. Meine Tochter und ich haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Vielen Dank! :)

Clean comfortable and generous breakfast was left. April was friendly and welcoming if somewhat distracted by her phone - we would have thanked her if we could have as we were leaving but all we got was a wave! Happy to recommend it to friends and would stay again:)

The rating of 5/5 definitely worth! I really enjoyed my stay with April, Wicki and Melvin in Plains. I can't thank them enough for this fantastic time. The place and room are lovely, warm and very clean. The room provides all the necessary facilities and has a great view over the landscape in front of the house. April is a wonderful host and she helps you with every question you have. Her place is well located and close to shops, restaurants and just a short train ride away from Glasgow and Edinburgh. A place highly recommended and I will definitely go back, thanks for everything!

We stayed with April for one night on our way up to Skye and then again for one night on our way back. April is a wonderful lady - very relaxed, welcoming, bubbly and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Her home is super and the room was unbelievable - so big, so well thought out and with great attention paid to detail.
Thank you April for having us stay. We hope to return to Skye and will certainly break our journey and stay with you again. Meanwhile, we'll tell our friends about you!Host reply

It was so welcoming and relaxing and super clean I'm a clean freak and I was so at home here april really made me feel welcome I will defiantly stay again
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
