Hello. I live with my little boy in a cute Victorian end of terrace house in a quiet cul de sac near the river in York. The centre is a 0.8km leafy stroll away and the railway station is even nearer.
The room has a desk, wardrobe and drawers. It has a large, luxurious bathroom for guests’ sole use one floor down. I now have a second, smaller bedroom on homestay. When this is rented this would mean sharing the bathroom with one other guest.
There’s free on street parking and a cute front garden. There’s also a sweet walled back garden with outdoor sofas and a barbecue.
Riley and I are really easy going. I’m a screenwriter and cinephile. For many years I taught and lectured in English, and screenwriting.
I’m used to welcoming people from all over the world and know all the best places to eat, drink and visit.
I’m also a member of a tennis club half a mile away and have spare racquets if you fancy a knockabout?

I recently stayed with Claire, and it was a wonderful experience. Claire is an incredibly kind and welcoming person, and I felt at home from the moment I arrived. In the evenings, we had long conversations that really helped me become more fluent in English. Claire was always patient and encouraging, which made practicing the language enjoyable. York itself is a lovely city to explore. It has a charming atmosphere, with beautiful medieval monuments and historical sites to visit. Walking around the city felt like stepping back in time, and there was always something interesting to see.
Overall, my stay with Claire was fantastic, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their English while enjoying the beauty of York.

Ich fühlte mich im Haus von Clare herzlich willkommen. Das Haus liegt nah am Zentrum und Du kannst mit dem Bus oder zu Fuss in die Stadt gelangen. Clare sagte mir unterschiedliche Wege, die wunderschön am Fluss entlang oder durch Grünanlagen gingen. Mein Zimmer war ein gemütliches Dachzimmer und ich hatte ein eigenes Bad mit Dusche und Badewanne. BTW das Bett war sehr bequem. Clare ist super hilfsbereit und brachte mich mit meiner schweren Tasche am letzten Tag sogar mit dem Auto zum Bus. Als allein reisende Frau habe ich mich wohl gefühlt. Clare machte mir immer wieder Angebote wie: möchtest Du mit uns essen oder wenn Du möchtest können wir gemeinsam einen Film sehen, was wir auch machten. Ich würde jederzeit wieder bei Clare wohnen. Vielen Dank für Deine Großherzigkeit Clare!

Great Place, good accomodations and lots facilities nearby the house (butchery, small supermarkt, grocery store and barber)
The host is welcoming and has helped me familiarising with the city.
A plus is its close location to York Railway Station and to a bus stop that goes to the city centre.Host reply

A pleasant homestay.
Clare was considerate, kind, bright host. She invited me to her family’s Christmas dinner! And she also let me see the films on her BAFTA account(?) which were very interesting to me.Riley was a very sweet friend. He was always kind to me and let me take him to some football match or cinema. Those were one of the most exciting moments during my stay.
York is very historical, quite, but NOT boring city at all. You can walk to the town within 15mins, and there’s a bus stop nearby the house. If you are movie-person and wanna take some rest, this is your stay. Highly recommend.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) and a 25% deposit using a choice of payments: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal. The deposit is collected in advance on behalf of the host to protect against no show or late cancellations (within 7 days of arrival). You then pay your host the balance due on arrival. The 25% deposit payment is made to the host 2 business days after your scheduled arrival date. This deposit payment will only be refunded if you cancel the booking at least 7 full days prior to arrival.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
