We delight in welcoming you to our home. My name is Vicki. I work from home and my husband, Jonathan, works in tech in San Francisco. We have been hosting internationals and adult professionals from around the world since 2012. We are easy to get along with and enjoy sharing our beautiful 3-bed/2-bath Victorian home in Alameda.
We have a great corner bedroom available with 4 large windows so there is lots of light and airflow. We also have an extra large bedroom with a double bed. Both rooms have spacious closets , TVs and mini fridge/freezers.
Shared spaces include: Livingroom, Kitchen, Dining room, Patio and Yard. The main bathroom is primarily yours. Our home is beautiful, clean and has a large grassy yard with gardens, BBQ, fire pit & patio table.
Rent includes: utilities, Wi-Fi, laundry, mini-frig/freezer in your room, and large monitor/TV. We are centrally located and walking distance to shopping, farmers markets, cafes, libraries, great restaurants, wine tasting rooms and micro-brewery pubs.
We live in a nice neighborhood, a good community, and it’s very safe.
Because Alameda is an island, we have long sandy beaches (10-min walk from our home) with amazing views of San Francisco. Our streets are safe and easy to walk or ride a bike. From our home it’s easy to get anywhere: just 10-minutes away from a Ferry Station, 2 blocks away from bus stop & close to 880 (about 30-mins to San Francisco/10-mins to Oakland). We enjoy doing a lot of outdoor activities with our guests and have enjoyed going sightseeing, on weekends away to the wine country, Monterey and camping in the Sierras (weather permitting). We've taught English and American culture courses and are willing to help with any cultural or language issues you may encounter.
House rules are simple: Respect the house, treat others like you want to be treated and enjoy your stay while in the beautiful Bay Area.

About the Area
Alameda is an island-town with a great view of San Francisco from many of its beaches. It is easy to get around via bicycling (bike available), walking, bus or driving and we are not far from 3 shopping areas on the island, or Jack London Square in Oakland and San Francisco shopping is amazing! Public transportation is very close; by bus to the rail system (BART), as well as two ferry boat terminals for pedestrians/bicycles and Uber/Lyft. Many parks, beaches, libraries, clubs, shopping and public events are within walking distance. Throughout the year there are festivals (holiday celebrations, music, art, wine, classic cars, etc.) and concerts or movies in the parks.
Alameda is mostly flat and most streets are lined with large trees and have bike lanes. We live in the center of the island and are only a 10 minute walk to the beach, parks, cafes, shopping and restaurants.

Vicki has a gift for hospitality. The room was large and private. Alameda was a hidden diamond in the bay area.
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
