    July 2022

In the morning I had sent out a request for a homestay in Cary, from June 24-July 1. I was waiting for the response and then late in the afternoon, I received a booking request from Andrew, saying that he saw that I was looking to stay in Cary from June 24 (the same day) and that he was located in Garner. We messaged back and forth and then he asked when I was coming out and it was 3pm and so I said that I was leaving then. He said that he could have it ready by 5pm, so we settled on that time and that is when I arrived. It is customary to check in by 3pm at hotels and most Airbnb's, although sometimes you are able to arrive earlier especially if they do not specify arrival/departure times. This was his first time hosting and my first time using homestay, so we made it work quite well. I would not say that it was last minute though, as he sent me the request to book with him that same day and late in the afternoon, so it was safe to assume that the room was ready. Either way, I was happy to arrive in Garner after a long time traveling. The area was nice, safe and rural. The home was nicely decorated and it was a very peaceful environment. It was very quiet there. There is a view of the yard, which is very lush and green. Internet worked well, so I did appreciate that as I work remotely. Grateful for the opportunity to stay.

Agreed. I bungled the first day just a tad. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay.

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

When do I pay?

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
