First of all, we will only consider guests who have completed their profile and have included a photo of everyone who will be staying in our home. Now, about us: We are a retired couple with two dogs. I was a librarian and my husband Gary was an electrical engineer. We have hosted younger exchange students in the past but would prefer to host adults now. Someone wishing to hone his or her English language skills, while picking up a bit of the culture, might find this to be an ideal situation.

About the Area
Louisville is known for horse-racing (home of the Kentucky Derby) and recently the "Bourbon Trail" distillery tour has become a popular tourist activity. Louisville has its own professional soccer team, Louisville City FC, with a new stadium. Our house is near a small lake and we have kayaks which could be borrowed. The University of Louisville is about twenty minutes away by car, and its basketball team has a beautiful arena on the Ohio River which is also the venue for international-level entertainment events (Lady Gaga, Elton John, etc.).

House Rules
Must enjoy dogs. No late night comings and goings without notice. Must be interested in getting to know hosts and being treated more like a guest than a tenant or boarder. Basic standards of courtesy and housekeeping are expected and should go without saying. (Saying anyway.)

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
