Hi
We are Louie and Madeline and we have a small, yet neat and clean room in a cozy, Manhattan apartment. We are located in the East Village, a short walk, bus, or subway ride from many NYC neighborhoods. There is an elevator in the building, though the apartment is on the second floor. There is a laundry room in the building as well. We are a friendly and easy going, empty-nester couple, who loves to travel, watch television series, and eat out. We are both employed in public schools and our expertise is children with special needs.
Please note: No smoking. Wifi is provided. The room has a daybed, is air conditioned, and has a smart television, dresser and closet. We provide clean sheets and towels. Guests can pay using Venmo, Paypal, Zelle, or cash - upon arrival. If you must cancel, please give at least 24 hours notice. Check-in is at 3pm and check-out is noon on weekends and at 4:00 pm on weekdays; however different arrangements can be made, as needed.

About the Area
The apartment is located in the East Village, on the lower east side of Manhattan on a quiet, tree-lined street and across the street from a park. It is an eclectic, gentrified neighborhood, with a multitude of restaurants and NYC landmarks within a short walking distance. Three bus route stops are within a 2-3 minute walk. The closest subway is a 7-10 minute walk away. LaGuardia Airport is 30 minute drive and JFK Airport is close to an hour away.

House Rules
Lights off before bedtime. Lights, AC, stove, etc. off, before leaving apartment. Wash used dishes and put them away. Clean up after yourself, after using the bathroom/shower. Maintain room clean and neat.
Females: Do not flush sanitary napkins or tampons. Please wrap in toilet paper and place them in the bathroom trash can.

Madeline and Louie were wonderful hosts. They made me feel at home. Madeline was really helpful and reactive to my messages or my requests. Louie is super funny! They both are very warm and easy to talk to. I definitely recommend their home, and hope to be back!

Madeline and Louie were such great hosts. I enjoyed my stay with them.
They were so caring and considerate. I really liked how they left me a note with breakfast every morning and I especially liked the banana bread Madeline made.
I reserved their room for 3 days only since I was worried after seeing a lot of negative reviews about other hosts on Homestay, but once I met Madeline and saw how nice and welcoming she was I ended up staying for a week.
I had a great experience overall and I highly recommend being hosted by them.September 2023
I stayed at Madeline’s for a few days and I am so happy i have chosen her as my host!
She is a very hospitable, caring, kind-hearted and easy-going host! She answered all the questions i asked about NYC, shops, sales, people, security and so on - i felt very safe at her flat and in this area in general.
The room is cosy and it has everything you need during the stay - bed, clean linen, towels, TV with different services, wardrobe.
We also spend some time talking with Madeline and her husband Lui. They told many stories about NYC, their own experience and so on.

Lia was a pleasure! She was kind (brought us some yummy treats from her country), was considerate (was quiet and kept after herself), and even taught us a fun card game and made book recommendations! We enjoyed her company very much!
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
