About the Area
Oakland foothills are the best kept secret in Cali with walking/hiking trails, swimming, camping. Neighborhood is fabulous. We all know each other & help each other out. I am 20 minutes (driving) to downtown SF. This is a very family-oriented, residential, suburban neighborhood. There's a gas station w/mini mart 4 blocks away. Other than that, there are NO restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, etc to get food close by. You will HAVE TO DRIVE TO GET FOOD. That, said, there are some fabulous, highly rated restaurants within a 10 minute drive. Also, Doordash/Postmates, Uber Eats are great food delivery services that I personally use.
Tons of street parking & gated parking is available for an additional fee. Also, please research "Oakland, CA" to get a better idea of where you're staying. I am NOT in a "safety challenged area" - anywhere between Bancroft & San Leandro streets. It amazes me that people come out here and have no clue about the area, it's cultural makeup/ethnic diversity/crime rate, etc. While this is a very safe neighborhood (look up "Millsmont" to get stats), it's still Oakland. However, Oakland is also "up & coming" with lots of "hipsters", young professionals and families. People now think it's "cool" to live in Oakland...probably because we are a tolerant, racially diverse & loving city. Can't wait to meet YOU!

House Rules
No drinking to excess (a glass of wine/a bottle of beer is fine). I have been sober for 20 years and absolutely will not tolerate drunken behavior. 420 is fine - no smoking in the house, there are ashtrays outside on one of the 3 lanais to smoke whatever. Vaping is fine in the house.
NO OVERNIGHT guests or guest use of shower. You can have a guest over to visit, but please do not let them use my house as a rest stop. Also no loud conversations during the week late at night (please go outside when making late night oversees calls). We are a WORKING household.
You have a small mini fridge in your room. If you need to use the house fridge, please ask to do so. Most times there is room, but an ask would be appreciated. I am a VEGAN. I do not cook meat in the house. You are welcome to use the kitchen to cook, but please use your own pans for cooking meat.
Don't care when you leave or come in, just please be mindful of others who live here and be quiet.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
