An invitation to visit a beautiful area of mid-south Tennessee that is called the Western Highland Rim which is the foothills of Appalachia with rolling hills. I'm a former college professor who decided to change lanes instead of spending two more decades in academia. Located 20 minutes between two small towns, most of my neighbors are cows with just a few houses in the visible distance.

I am super interested in the sharing economy and having regular guests who are interested in homesteading lifestyle. I have rural broadband and some connections across my 5 acres. Many chickens and 13 going on 15 donkeys (most are minis). You must not be allergic to cats or dogs. The dogs are outside to guard the flock.

You will reserve the master suite with private bathroom and share the communal space including living room and kitchen with myself and the cats. The bedroom has a queen and an extra bunk bed, large bathroom with walk-in shower.

I have multiple things I'm in the middle of but trying to spend more time as a gardener and artist are my goals.

House Rules

You must love animals and NOT be allergic to cats. There are multiple cats inside and some that are outside that occasionally come inside. This is a rural area. It will take 20 minutes to get to a grocery store. I compost and am very conservative in purchasing packaged food. I have to take my own trash to the landfill. Someone who doesn't eat a lot of junk food and is more health conscious is a better fit for this stay. Don't expect to visit lots of restaurants or coffee shops either.

No shoes inside to keep the outside outside.

No smoking, no drugs, no vaping. Minimal use of alcohol is okay.

Depending on the time of the year, you may need to wear layers as my thermostat will be kept for the best energy efficiency.

You may use the rural broadband.

Must schedule arrival time before dark to be able to meet and show the details of the land and house.

You may use the kitchen, but please clean as you go. I really cannot stand the smell of bacon and realized it when I had some airbnb guests. All cooking is on propane so the heat is different. Please no metal utensils in the pots. Must compost.

You may walk on my riverside property at your own risk.

You may interact with the donkeys and other animals.

This is a work at home environment so you will see me on the computer or busy on the land.

Smoking Rules

Your host is a non-smoker.

Smoking is not allowed.

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

When do I pay?

You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
