About the Homestay
My apartment is small but well maintained. It is very cozy and clean. It is fully equipped with dishes, pots and pans, blender, coffee maker, toaster, large stove / oven and refrigerator. All linens, bath towels, body soap, shampoo and conditioner are included. Our printer is accessible over WiFi with your laptop/smart phone (we often use it to print out routes/maps and directions.
I offer TV with local channels and your room is equipped with Netflix, Amazon Prime videos via Roku streaming and free high-speed WiFi. There is no mess or clutter because we like to keep things simple. I'm an empty-nester as my only son graduated from NJIT university, found his own flat and started a new career at Tesla. PLEASE NOTE: Bed size is a standard U.S. Queen Size (80 inches X 60 inches = 203.2 CM X 152.4 CM)
I am a 53 year old man who is very friendly, sociable and happy to host. As a former Airbnb manager I have gained lots of experience hosting (Se habla Español). It really is a home away from home and you will always be treated as family.
With plenty of local transportation just 1.5 blocks away you can travel to New York City Port Authority Bus & Subway Terminal. From there the sky is the limit as to where you can go in NYC..... 42nd Street (Times Square), Empire State Building, One World Observatory, Intrepid Air & Space Museum, Central Park, Stature Of Liberty, 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Rockefeller Center, MOMA.... the list is endless! All points in Lower, Mid & Upper Manhattan. On a nice day you can walk 25 minutes to the Port Imperial Ferry (Weehawken, NJ) which will take you to Wall Street/Pier 11 and so much more. Please visit nywaterway.com for fares, routes and schedules. Please note that the NYC Metro Card for subway/busses are not accepted on NJ Transit busses. NJ Transit passes (Flex Pass = multiple bus rides) may be purchased at Port Authority for use on any NJ Transit bus. These passes are offered at a 15% - 20% discount versus paying cash on bus. Once here, I recommend the NJ Transit App which gives you up-to-the-minute NJ Transit bus scheduling/tracking information to/from NYC.
Once you board the bus for NYC it usually takes about 20 -25 minutes from home, depending on traffic, to reach Port Authority NY. In NYC there are a variety of transportation options to take you to the 5 boroughs of Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island. If you just want to spend some time in our local area you'll find plenty of great restaurants and shopping in the immediate vicinity (all within walking distance) of home. The NJ Light Rail is located just several blocks from here if you fancy a trip to the Newport Center Mall In Jersey City, Liberty Science Center or Liberty State Park. For folks attending events at Met Life Stadium in NJ, you're just 35 minutes from home via bus or 15 - 20 minutes by car.
** VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ:::.... If at all possible I recommend traveling through JFK Airport (New York) Or LGA Airport (New York) and avoid Newark Airport (EWR) because it is rated the worst airport in our area. Starting October 2022 Newark (EWR) will be removed from the "NYC City Code" which means it will no longer be considered part of the NYC Airport System. The consequences may be higher prices all around, including with local transportation. It is currently very difficult and expensive to use any type of local transit when traveling from EWR to our surrounding cities***

Eddie was the absolute best host imaginable! He went out of his way to make us feel as comfortable and at home as possible - with success! His apartment indeed feels like a home and Eddie really makes it feel like you're living with a friend you've known for years. Whenever we had a question, he provided an answer. And even just chatting in the kitchen was so much fun! We left New York with a new friend in the U.S. and couldn't be happier about the choice of our host! Thank you so much Eddie, we will definitely come back!
I stayed in Eddie's appartment, a week in september.I can say hi is not a host, he's a friend. The appartment is clean, convenient and comfortable. There are frequently buses to New York bus authority port terminal, close to times square. Thank you Eddie. You are a great person.
Eddie is amazing, caring and very welcoming host. The room in his apartment has everything you need. The entire apartment was tidy and impeccably clean, which made you really feel comfortable.
The public transit connection to NYC is quite convenient, the 156 & 159 bus runs quite frequently, costs 3.50$ per ride and takes you in 20-30 min directly to Port Authority Bus Terminal which is right next to Times Square.
Staying at Eddie's place will certainly be one of the most memorable things and best decisions of my stay in New York. If I'm visiting NYC again, I exactly know where I'm going to stay and I can only recommend his place from the bottom of my heart.
We have been travelling for quite some time but honestly we've never had better host than Eddie, so it was never a question to return to his home for the 2nd time. His apartment is immaculate and fully equipped with everything you might need. And even more importantly Eddie is a super caring and funny person who always have a joke ready and gives you the best recommendations (cheesecake is life! :) ). If you are looking for the best host around New York city, then congratulations! You've just found it. We're really looking forward to be Eddie's guests again soon.
Our stay at Eddie's was perfect. Very nice and helping host. The trip to New York, Manhattan, is very quick and easy: lots of buses on several lines till late at night. And again, Eddie gave us all the information. Many stores and restaurants all around and everything at hand in the kitchen to be used (even tupperwares to bring sandwiches if needed). Thanks a lot to you, Eddie, for these marvellous 2 weeks !
