About the Homestay
We are a family of five and we live in Yonkers, New York. The house is a large Victorian House and we have been hosting International students and interns for several years. We are a fun, loving family and welcome those who would like to live with a family to improve their language skills and to have access to the City with just a quick train ride. My husband is a Classical Pianist and I am a Speech Language Pathologist. We have three daughters that are 25, 21 and 19 and they are all attending College. We are multi-lingual as we speak English and French. I speak Spanish as well. Our students have all been very satisfied.

Magaly and her family are beyond wonderful hosts! They treat you as their family, inviting you for dinner and whennever they have get togethers. However, they do respect if you are more of an introvert and want to stay in your room.
When Magaly reached out to me, I didn't have enough money to cover the full rent but she was very flexible and let me pay in small amounts throughout my stay. Magaly enjoys cooking for her family and her guests. I am more social, I enjoyed coming to dinner for great conversations and jokes for a few hours. I never had an issues but if I had, she would have found a way to fix it the best she could. I was without a car the last half of my stay and she offered to drive me to costco twice when I needed a new contact prescription which demonstrates how nice she is. Everyone in the house including the other tenants, were very friendly and there were never any problems.
My room was in the basement, but it felt like my own apartment. There were comfy couches and chairs and a tv set up. I used my computer to hook up to the tv for cable but she did offer to bring down a cable box for me if I wanted.
For transportation, she is close to bus stops and there is always parking on her street. When I had a car with me, I never had an issue with parking.
I would recommend anyone to stay with Magaly and her family, and if I need a place in the future I know I will be reaching out to her. Thanks again!
Magaly and all the rest of the family were wonderful. They were very kind and generous and helpful throughout all of my stay at their house. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for an affordable place to stay close to NYC.
I had a wonderful Time at the home of magaly, all of her familly were very nice.it was easy also to go to Manhattan with the subway or the train and whene magaly had to go somewhere she drived me at the train station ;) Everything was perfect there!i will come back it's sure!!!
esperienza stupenda, famiglia fantastica!!!!!!
This family is the best host family! They are friendly, they help you EVERYTIME you need help, they make you feel at home, they are lovely and I love them! This was such a nice stay in NY, it was really perfect!!
This guest awarded the host 5 hearts but didn’t leave any comments.
A real pleasure to live here amongst this family who cares about the people living in her house. They did not hesitate to bring us by car where we needed to go if not possible by bus or if they had an occasion to do so. They also took care about the breakfast even if it was not included, and this was unexpected and highly appreciated. This is a perfect place to have a silent night, a good student experience, and a very, very nice person to take care of you. Thank you very much Magaly.
