Dr. Orwa from Palestine stayed with our host Yolanda for 2 weeks during a research trip to the Estación Experimental de Aula Dei (EEAD) or Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) just on the outskirts of Zaragoza.
I really enjoyed my time with Yolanda and received excellent service from both the host the homestay.com. The area near her home was very clean and comfortable. There were lots of different types of restaurants to suit different tastes. There was a very nice Japanese sushi place and a nice American ribs restaurant in Alfonzo street.

I was on a scientific visit. The people in Zaragoza are really nice and the city is covered by an excellent transport system of buses and trains. It's so easy to figure out your way around. The scientific visit was excellent and the team of soil scientists were really helpful. The landscape outside Zaragoza towards the Pyrenees mountains is breathtaking. The air in Zaragoza was so fresh due to the fact that the place has strong winds 280 days during the year. I think the best time for visit would be from middle of February until the beginning of June.

I would really recommend that you visit Aljaferia Palace and El Pilar Cathederal and downtown area. The botanical garden is an excellent place to go to on a sunny day. The Ebro river walk is also refreshing.

I learned a lot of Spanish words from my host. a really good way to learn Spanish and to immerse yourself with he language, is to interact with the locals and the native speakers. most the youngers speak English, and the elder one don't speak English, but are helpful if you ask about directions, and they will try to give you detailed answer even if you don't understand the language. nice to watch the TV witht he host family and they will try to interact with and explain things more. they love football (soccer). and most importantly have fun. orwa houshia
