It was lovely staying over at Karen & Damien's. I had gone there towards the start of the pandemic for short while.
The nearest bus stop is a 5 min walk which I would usually take to get to the major station from where you can take a bus or train to anywhere. When home, I would keep to my room if I had something to do. Otherwise, you could find me cooking, watching TV or playing one of the musical instruments. I would also occasionally take the cycle out to the nearby trails and landmarks.
You are given the freedom to go about your own schedule and approach the family if you needed something. They have been really nice and helpful during my stay. The pool is maintained but wasn't used when I was there as it was cold. The home gym has limited equipment like dumbells and barbells which were slightly old and rusted but came handy as Victoria went into lockdown and all public gyms had closed down.
All in all, a good experience if you're looking for a homely place to stay with a nice and respectful family.
As a visiting PhD student from Beijing to Melbourne, I had a fantastic experience when I was living in this excellent homestay for a whole year during my academic visiting.
It was my first time being abroad and also the first time I have to find a suitable place to live (I live in the accommodation of my university in Beijing for many years). And based on the motivations that I should live with the local people and fully take this precious visiting time in which not only doing solid research in my visiting university but also learning more about Australia and its rich and colourful culture, I determined to consider the homestay. But I didn't have any experience or ideas of it then.
Fortunately, I found this website by chance, and finally, I was attracted to the intro of this homestay and got contact with the hosts. I can still clearly remember that afternoon that we had the first relaxed meeting online via homestay.com. From that time, my memorable and extra special visiting year started. Until to now, after I have gone back to China, I still often visit my good memories with the kind-hearted hosts, family members and friends. I really appreciate their great support and love, and I hope I could get the chance to revisit this excellent homestay in the near future!
This guest awarded the host 5 hearts but didn’t leave any comments.
