About the Homestay
Family home near the city centre.
We live in a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in Priestfield, Edinbugh, 20 minutes walk to Princess Street or the same by bus.
In our house lives mum, an 11 year old boy and a handsome, very friendly, well behaved chocolate labrador dog called Murphy.
Our house is clean and comfortable. We have a lovely garden to the rear with a raised area for seating that receives the sun all day, when it decides to shine on us.
We are located in central Edinburgh, we are only a bus ride from the beach or the city centre. We also have at the top of the road the Prestonfield House Hotel, which is a 5 star venue and runs weekly a Taste of Scotland event. It is expensive but a fantastic evening showcasing Scotland's finest. It's a wonderful place to stay. Shopping centre is a 10 minute walk or 5 minutes by bus.
In our house, we are all sociable. However, we understand that you may enjoy a quiet night to yourself as we do too!

Please use our home as your own, but please take into account that I have a 11 year old. Who needs to sleep, he'd be willing to stay up all night, but I'm afraid I don't allow it. Once he's asleep, he hears nothing! But I'd appreciate noise to a minimum after 9pm.
If you require the house to be warmer, please ask.
Feel free to use the kitchen, but please leave it as you find it.
Don't ask a stranger into our home without asking first.
Please enjoy your stay, ensure you leave things as you found them.
Smoking is allowed outdoors only.
I spent two months at Lee's place and unfortunately I didn't feel so comfortable as other people said. Lee wants people to be very tidy and quiet - and that's absolutely right: the problem is that sometimes I found a very big mess in the kitchen and heard noises at night (once one of Lee's friend rang the bell in the middle of the night) , this made me feel like rules were for guests but not for hosts, although you pay a lot for your room. When I asked for using the washing machine on my own and when I used the kitchen I felt like being checked in what I was doing, as if Lee didn't trust me or thought I could damage something: at the end of my stay she accused me of having broken the freezer drawer, and obviously I didn't - it's not something that you can hide and I didn't have any reason to break something and not tell.
On the other hand the position of the house is perfect (just at the foot of Arthur's Seat, near to a big shopping centre, about 30 minutes from the city centre by foot) and Lee let me invite two friends for dinner twice.
It's the right accomodation if you want to spend all your day around, but if you also like to spend some time at home I wouldn't suggest it, because to me it's been very difficult to feel comfortable there.
Lee is a kind and considerate hostess. She kept her promise to keep the room for us when we could not arrive as planned and reminded us to contact www.homestay.org about our changed schedule. We had a winderful time at her cosy room. She even helped us to find new accommodation for our stay in Edinburgh in July.
Lee, please accept our sincere appreciation. The time we spent in your room is unforgettable.
It's a nice, clean room and house and Lee is very helpful if you need anything. Murphy, the dog is gorgeous.Definetely a great place to stay :)
Lee is a very welcoming and kind woman, she let me be completely independant but was always available when I needed her or information. I was made very welcome by her and her family, not forgetting her adorable dog, Murphy !
This guest awarded the host 5 hearts but didn’t leave any comments.
This is just beautiful family,
I shall choose no other family that that one,
I thank them enormously and it is a family more than charming !!!
I stayed with Lee, Ben and Murphy for 4 months as an exchange student at the University of Edinburgh and I had an excellent time. They all made me feel welcome from the very first day starting with a walk with Murphy followed by a drive around the area to show you where everything is. It's about a 30 - 40 minute walk to the city centre, a 5 minute walk to catch a bus to the city and a 15 minute walk to the nearest shopping centre. The room has most of the amenities that you need: towels, bed sheets, couch, desk, cupboards and drawers, TV, umbrella, hairdryer and an adaptor. There is a toilet, shower and a kitchen stocked with utensils, and you are free to purchase and store any food in the fridge and cupboards. The house rules are simple to follow and you are free to come and go as you please. Lee is really helpful and accommodating and is always up for a chat. She especially helped me to step up my housework game and gave lots of sightseeing suggestions for Edinburgh. Ben is a mature, energetic child (who can be cheeky at times!) and is happy to play games with you. If you love dogs, Murphy is a cuddly gentle giant who sometimes strolls into your room to say hi! You are free to walk him if you like. Overall, a great experience and would not hesitate to do it all again.
I've been in Lee house for 2 wonderful weeks! The house is really clean and beautiful.
Lee, Ben and Murphy are lovely.
I really recommend this amazing family :)
